Is your business website safe from the threat of hackers?
I don’t think I’ll ever forget the first time I realized my business website was vulnerable. I found my website acting quirky, and after a thorough inspection, a few lines of injected code had to be removed. The code snippet was meant to be a joke, but I wasn’t laughing. In this case, it was a harmless prank, but I quickly felt apprehension growing because the next time it may not be so harmless. Could I stop this from happening again? How would I prevent something like this, or worse? There was a lot I needed to learn if I was going to stop this from happening again.
Research shows that multiple layers of security is best practice for any website, and the first line of defense is often the most overlooked. This first layer of security is the “web application firewall.” Don’t worry, those are only fancy words to describe a gate with a guard for your website that turns away fake users and hackers. In fact, if the guard is very diligent, these hackers and fake users are turned away often before they even see the gate of your castle. If they can’t see you, they can’t hurt you!
As a side benefit, a firewall of this type also helps your website run faster since fake people (robots) and hackers don’t have access to the site to slow you down with false traffic.
Nobody should feel apprehensive about vulnerability in website technology because we all have the power to take control of our business and website security. You have the power to take control by implementing multiple layers of website security, so you never have to feel apprehensive about the safety of your website. You can be confident that your business website is safe. Dissolve your apprehension by implementing a plan to secure your website.
